Its not every day we get to see two huge fashion
brands and friendly competitors coming together
but Givenchy ’s Fall/Winter 2015/16 campaign is
one for the history books.
Givenchy’s artistic director Riccardo Tisci tapped
Donatella Versace for the brands latest ad
campaign.
Regardless of whether it was rightfully earned
or not, the fashion community's rep is that of an
industry with a high school clique mentality—
and there are major power players working to
debunk that. Two of them, Givenchy's Riccardo
Tisco and Versace's Donatella Versace, are
making a high-impact statement, letting their
friendship flag fly in major glosses and on
billboards.
When Donatella Versace was announced » to star
in Givenchy 's Fall 2015 campaign, the news
brought surprise and then excitement and finally a
first look at the campaign is here and it's fierce.
Donatella Versace rocked her platinum blonde
locks and smokey eye in a Givenchy serving a
fierce pose for the campaign cover.
The designer explained why she fronts a
competing brand's campaign via her official
Versace Instagram, “I believe in breaking rules.
Riccardo Tisci is extremely talented and above all
my dear friend. We are family. I want to get rid of
the old system, work together, support each other
and make fashion a true global community .”
The campaign also stars models Mariacarla
Boscono, Candice Swanepoel, Frankie Rayder,
Greta Varlese, Isis Bataglia and Stella Lucia
Deopito. Take a look above.
The ad campaign was shot by Mert Alas and
Marcus Piggott with styling by Carine Rothfeld.
Rumours about Donatella appearing in a campaign
for the rival design house Givenchy first surfaced in
April when Riccardo Tisci posted a black and white
photo of himself and Donatella on his Instagram.
He captioned ‘So proud and honored to introduce
my new ultimate icon: Donatella Versace… FW15
Givenchy Family Campaign’
She had reposted and captioned ‘For my talented
friend Riccardo. Together we break fashion
boundaries today!’
